NSW Junior Mounted Games Team heads to Nationals 24th JulyThis coming weekend, Murrumbateman Pony Club's own Pat Ryan will be competing at the Australian Pony Club National Mounted Games championships in Nambour, Queensland.
Pat will be competing alongside teammates Lauren and Penny Slater from Wamboin Club, Georgia Hope from Canberra Riding and Pony Club, Matthew North from the Vines Club and first reserve is Tom Thorek from Bungendore Club

After Nationals, Pat will be heading to the UK the following Friday to compete for Australia at the Prince Phillip Cup in Derbyshire. Pat's results will be posted here when available. Good luck Pat!

Zone 16 Mounted Games: 3-4 July 2010On the weekend of July 3rd and 4th, the Zone 16 Mounted Games Championships were held at Bungendore.
It was typically cold but sunny in Bungendore & all the kids had a great time & showed great sportsmanship & horsemanship.
Murrumbateman had 4 teams entered in the competition:
- Murrumbateman Midgets; Katie Livermore, Tom & Sally Hancock, Maddie McGrath and Pia Walker.
- Murrumabteman Mates; Maddie Schultz-Altmann, Jamie & Ellie Duff, Tabea Berkowitz and Rebecca Johnson.
- Murrumbateman Mudcrabs; Pat Ryan, Sophie & Jess Harrison, Roz Moran and Zoe Walker.
- The Underdogs; Bec McLean, Grace Hancock and Jess Simpson.
It was all about the 4's: Murrumbateman had 4 teams entered, and at the end of the day on the 4th July, each team came 4th in their division! Congratulations to all the riders that represented Murrumbateman.

The 20th Annual Murrumbateman Pony Club Showjumping Festival was held on the weekend of 12-13th June.

In an unusual change from the normal Murrumbateman weather at this time of the year, it was a BEAUTIFUL weekend! There was a light fog early in the morning on Saturday but this had lifted by around 10am and revealed a clear blue sunny sky. Murrumbateman locals haven't seen the sun shine like that in weeks!

As always, the dinner, auction and trivia night was great fun. Dinner was beautiful as usual, big thanks go the Murrumbateman Country Inn for feeding the hungry masses! The auction was a huge success and raised thousands for the club. This year there were 60 auction items and every single one was sold. Some items went for an amazingly low price, so well done to all the lucky buyers.

Sunday morning was like waking up to a Winter wonderland - Everything was covered in frost! With temperatures dropping to -3 overnight it's no wonder. Once the sun found it's legs, the frost cleared and, much the same as Saturday, it was a beautiful sunny day.

There were a few unfortunate tumbles, 2 requiring the ambulance, but thankfully no serious injuries. Our best wishes for a quick recovery to those riders.

An important message about Hendra VirusPlease read below for an important message about Hendra Virus from Belinda Walker, from the NSW DPI. Attached below is a document providing links to information on the virus (click to download).
Dear horse industry representative,
The NSW Department of Industry and Investment (Primary Industries) believes that it is important for people who come in contact with horses to be aware of the potential risks posed to them by Hendra virus. This will enable them to assess the risk that contact with horses poses to them, in their own situation.
The document attached provides a number of links to information on Hendra virus, that will help horse owners to make that risk assessment, and protect themselves as necessary. Industry & Investment NSW strongly recommends that you distribute this information to any horse owners, or people that may come in contact with horses, that are members of your organisation.
